Esaïe Eugène, from Jacmel in the South-East Department of Haiti, has been a volunteer of the Haitian Red Cross since 2009. In 2010, he started working with the Netherlands Red Cross as a field supervisor in cholera response and HIV prevention until 2015. Since then, he has continued its work with the Haitian Red Cross and Netherlands Red Cross as a project manager for several projects related to community resilience, the most notable named: ‘Strengthening Community Resilience facing food insecurity in Grand Gosier and Côtes de Fer’. The latest was a flagship project implemented by the Haitian Red Cross in the Southeast with support from the Princess Margriet Fund (PMF) of the Netherlands Red Cross. Following the Hurricane Matthew in 2016, Esaïe also participated in a WASH project in Les Cayes, in the South of Haiti.
Currently, Esaïe works as a project manager for the Green Pearl Initiative, a pilot project for landscape restoration and integrated community-based project entailing not only traditional humanitarian aid but also a development model showcasing a change of paradigm.
