John Kimbrough, Regional Advisor
John joined the USAID/OFDA/LAC team as a regional advisor in January 2010. Beginning in April 2002, he worked with USAID/OFDA as a disaster operations specialist, program officer, and later as regional advisor with the USAID/OFDA Regional Office for East and Central Africa in Nairobi, Kenya. His work on the Sudan portfolio entailed frequent trips to South Sudan.
John’s current area of focus is coordinating USAID/OFDA DRR activities in the Caribbean region.
Prior to joining USAID/OFDA, John worked with the U.S. Peace Corps in Kenya from 1987 to 1989 and as a college preparatory secondary school principal in the Caribbean from 1990 to 1994. From 1994 to 2002, he worked with World Relief in the Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire), Rwanda, South Sudan, and the Caribbean region based out of Barbados.
John has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He also studied International Development and Policy Administration at the University of Florida.
