Dr. Maria Tallarico joined the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) in April 2017 as Director of the Health and Care Department for Latin America and the Caribbean. The Unit works under the framework of the Regional Health Strategy and the Integrated Regional Program. Through a team of professionals in Health in Emergency, MHPSS and WASH, the unit provides support to the Red Cross NS in the Americas. Dr. Tallarico is a medical doctor and pediatrician, with a Master's degree in Tropical Diseases and several diplomas in Health related issues, Human Rights- Development and Health, and mayor Epidemics. Prior her assignment at the IFRC, she has worked for the United Nations Agencies, and as senior advisor for the Italian Cooperation Department of Health.
Dr. Maria Tallarico received her Doctor of Medicine and Surgery degree and Post degree in Pediatrics at the University of Florence, Italy, and the Master's Degree at the University of Valencia, in Spain.
